Lapland or ( Sápmi ) is the name of a region in north Europe that "belongs" to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Sápmi is a landarea that covers a total area of 388,350 square kilometre crossing all these four countrys borderline. The Sami are the indigenous people of this land. There are several statistics showing average figures of  40,000 Sami living in Norway, 20,000 in Sweden, 6,000 in Finland and 2,000 living in Russia.
